San Francisco, CA

The Hampton Inn Downtown is a fifteen-story, four-star hotel completed in 2015. The hotel contains 174 rooms and includes a green roof planted with native California grasses. The ground floor contains retail space. The upper floors of the hotel are set back in order to maintain the scale of the existing buildings in the immediate vicinity at the street front. The lower portion of the building is clad in a terracotta veneer, while the upper and rear portions of the building are clad with a more modern metallic panel. Accent panels at the window openings create continuity between the upper and lower levels. This hotel is the first hotel project in the city to break ground after the 2008 recession, and one of the only high-rise hotels in San Francisco to break ground in the past fifteen years.
